You may have heard the term "low GI" being thrown around. GI refers to glycaemic index of food (aka how quickly a carbohydrate containing food is digested and increases glucose in the blood stream).

For this reason it can be useful for people living with diabetes to choose low GI foods to manage blood glucose. It can also be useful for people without diabetes to help stabilise blood sugar levels throughout the day and avoid massive energy crashes.
Some easy swaps to reduce the GI of foods are swapping white bread to wholemeal or jasmine rice to Basmati rice.
