Pink Salt - is it worth the hype?

Pink Salt seems to be getting all the attention but is it really worth all the hype?

A little salty about this food myth so thought i’d break down the science. Himalayan salt may look pretty but it’s not really that different from regular sea salt.

The claims that pink Himalayan salt has more minerals IS true (this is why it’s coloured), BUT the amount of trace minerals you will be getting is so small that it’s hardly significant (around 2%).

So, with the amount of salt we eat, mineral difference is negligible.

98% of pink salt is sodium chloride (NaCl). This is pretty standard for most salts. So pink salt isn’t really lower in sodium either.

The reason why people may choose to lower their overall sodium intake is a different topic all together. However these health concerns regarding sodium apply to both pink & normal salt.

Pink salt is nothing super special.
